There are dozens of terrific family travel blogs out there, most written by families who do indeed enjoy traveling together. It is quite inspiring to see how a little love can get you through some terrific challenges (such as 16 hours on a plane with a 6 month old). For those of us not quite so blessed, we can glean some great tips and advice from these wise, love-filled travelers. I thus present my top 5 family travel blogs.
1. Traveling Mamas – Run by 4 Mamma’s who run the ‘Mama’ gamut with subjects from family travel and romantic escapes to girlfriend getaways and solo trips. Posts such as ‘Top Twilight Travel Sites’ show a scary intimacy with their children’s’ obsessions. And then there’s the useful stuff like Top Tips for Winter Car Safety.
2. Delicious Baby – The tagline evokes the spirit of the site – making travel with kids fun. For those who want to embrace travel with your kids instead of putting up with travel – this blog is for you: packing lists, favorite travel gear on sale at Amazon, travel toys, etc. Debbie Dubrwon, the blog’s author even teaches classes about Traveling With Kids at the Rick Steves Travel Center.
3. Wejustgotback.com - Travel advice you can trust from families who have been there. Tons of content! I love the ‘search by child’s age’ feature. Their fabulous tip sheets include doozies such as Road Trips: Advice for the Long and Whining Road which suggests brief tips from a variety of readers like ‘buy a package of pipe cleaners.’ And check out the great deals on kid friendly travel.
4. Travel Savvy Mom - If you want some entertainment, visit this site – lots of amusing stories and great pics including categories such as ‘just plain weird’ and ‘ha ha ha’ from the travel savvy mom team with a myriad of travel and writing experience. The comments are often as good as the stories, with tons of shared experiences. Check out Top 10 Family Travel Tips You Can Actually Use - such as ‘Never leave home without peanut butter.’
5. Outdoor Baby – A very unique blog highlighting how to hang with your kids in the great outdoors. Pick your sport (running, water sports, hiking, camping, etc), and Heidi will have some great advice on how to do it with kids in tow.
Special Mention:
- Check out Soultravelers3 – an inspiring travelogue with beautiful pictures from a family of three’s epic odyssey around the world
- Jet with Kids.com – the name says it all - gear, tips, checklists, airline policies, the list goes on.

Thank so much Kristin, for including Soultravelers3! We also have lots of how-to information about extended travel, digital nomadic lifestyle, living large on little, and handling kids educational needs on the move including books, piano & violin lessons!
We’re so pleased to have had more than 1.2 million views on our Soultravelers3 Youtube Channel with our popular videos about our world travels.
Great list, but I also have to agree with Elliott, add Sheila Scarborough’s extensive Bootsnall Family Travelogue. I believe it is the one that has been around the longest as she began in 2006, the same year we began our trip and website!
So happy to see you include the important category of family travel! Kudos!

All great mentions! I feel it’s so important to show kid’s ‘the world’, through reading, travel and their imagination! And, I agree with the BootsNAll - excellent site as well!

Thanks for including JetWithKids.com! As a registered nurse, I research the medical/practical side of things - like best tips, products and services to prevent or treat ear pain, diabetic issues, blood clots, colds and flu, etc. (stuff that can easily ruin the family vacation…)
We provide “packable peace” for travelers of all ages!

I appreciated on your details words on Travel Topic. I would like to check that you take a moment to view the blog. (http://thedirecttraveller.blogspot.com ).
While very new, this site has nearly all the features of the other sites with the personal touch you like (literally you will speak to me, the developer with any questions). The few features which are missing like the discounts are being change day to day now. In addition this site offers a few features the others do not, like the ability to create personal discussion groups and interface with blogs.
Please give us a look and maybe you will find a new favourite to recommend.
Thank you.
