U.S. Travel Industry Experts Reveal Top Destinations and Experiences

Today, NileGuide put out a press release announcing the top countries, cities, and journeys as voted on by over 50 leaders in the North American travel industry. On the heels of a similar poll by Travel + Leisure Australia, NileGuide implemented its own survey to explore and compare the expertise of this continent.

You can find the press release in the NileGuide press room.

There were a couple of other category results we found quite fascinating.

Top 10 Icons

  1. Golden Gate Bridge
  2. Grand Canyon
  3. The Eiffel Tower
  4. Great Wall of China
  5. Statue of Liberty
  6. Mt. Fuji
  7. Lincoln Memorial
  8. Machu Picchu
  9. Iguazu Falls
  10. Victoria Falls

The symbol of San Francisco stood out as the clear winner, just as it is clear that symbolism is important — many of these icons define their parent nations. When Ross Weber, General Manager of TravelPost, was asked why he selected the Statue of Liberty, he simply replied, “Symbolic.”

Hotel Favorites

Lastly, we asked our travel industry colleagues to name their favorite hotel. Below is a selection of top picks:

Four Seasons at Wailea, Maui – a personal favorite of Dick Schulte, CEO at Adventure Central. According to NileGuide’s Maui local expert, “Many agree this is the best hotel on Maui. See it even if you stay elsewhere.”

The Peninsula, Hong Kong – a personal favorite of Cal Simmons, Chairman of The Five Star Alliance. NileGuide’s Hong Kong local expert agrees: “With ‘optional’ extras that include Rolls Royce and helicopter transfer for airport and sightseeing, The Peninsula is one of the most famous hotels in the world - and regarded as one of the best. Warren Beatty, Charlie Chaplin, Mohammed Ali, Ronald Reagan and Princess Diana have stayed here. Posh royalty style!”
